8 Spring Cleaning Tasks You Shouldn’t Avoid

As Spring is almost here – time to tackle those tedious cleaning tasks…

With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to take on those deep-cleaning jobs you’ve been avoiding all winter.

Say goodbye to the cobwebs that have lingered since Halloween and finally tackle that stubborn carpet stain from Christmas festivities. While spring cleaning might not be the most exciting task, it’s a great way to refresh your home and create a healthier space for your family, making it a tradition well worth keeping.

To help you get started, here are eight essential tasks to add to your to-do list, along with simple tips to get them done efficiently!

  1. Dust Everything – Top to Bottom!

For a truly clean home, start at the highest points and work your way down.

Begin by clearing away ceiling cobwebs and dusting the walls with a feather duster. Then move on to shelves, furniture, and other surfaces using a microfiber cloth. Also don’t forget to clean those often overlooked skirting boards – they collect more dust than you’d think!

By working from top to bottom, you’ll ensure no dust settles on freshly cleaned areas. Happy dusting!

  2. Vacuum Thoroughly

While vacuuming is (hopefully) a regular chore, now is the time to go the extra mile. Move as much furniture as possible to reach hidden dust and dirt, you might be surprised at what’s lurking behind your sofa!

  3. Crystal-Clear Windows

For a streak-free shine, wipe the inside of your windows with horizontal strokes and the outside with vertical strokes. If you spot any smudges, you’ll know exactly which side needs a touch-up!

  4. Bathroom Refresh

Ditch the harsh chemicals—lemon and baking soda are powerful natural cleaners. They’re budget-friendly, gentle on surfaces, and perfect for tackling stubborn bathtub stains and grime.

  5. Freshen Up Your Machines

Give your washing machine a deep clean by removing and scrubbing the detergent drawer, then washing the filter with hot, soapy water. To cut through grease in your dishwasher, run an empty cycle with a cup of distilled white vinegar.

Your home will feel fresher in no time! Ready to tackle the next task?

  6. Fridge/Freezer Refresh

A full defrost at least once a year keeps your fridge-freezer running efficiently. Turn it off, place bowls of hot water inside, and lay plenty of towels underneath to catch melting ice. Be patient and avoid scraping to prevent damage. Once everything has melted, wipe the interior clean with warm, soapy water for a fresh start.

  7. Oven Detox

If you can’t stand the harsh smell of chemical oven cleaners, try bicarbonate of soda instead! Mix it into a thick paste, spread it across the inside of your oven, and let it sit overnight. In the morning, simply wipe it away with a damp sponge. For an extra grease-busting boost, cut a lemon in half, place it in a dish of water, and bake on low heat. The steam will help break down stubborn grime.

  8. Microwave Makeover

Easily loosen baked-on food by microwaving a cup of water with a few lemon slices on high for a few minutes. The steam will soften grime, making it easy to wipe away with a cloth and your microwave will smell fresh and clean!

Happy spring cleaning!
