Are You Giving Spiders An Open Invitation To Your Home?

You may have noticed an influx of spider lodgers lately. This is because they take refuge from the heat and damp in our cool, dry homes. Plus, open windows are basically an open invitation.

We are fortunate in the UK that we don’t have the threat of deadly spiders like many other countries.

However, it doesn’t stop many of us from disliking the creatures,  even being scared of them. In fact, arachnophobia is the 5th most common phobia in the UK.

Did you know, there’s a few things you can do to your home to make it slightly less inviting to the eight legged creepy crawlies?

Peppermint essential oil sprayed around the home could deter them from entering, as they hate the smell. Focus on areas they could enter your home like doorways and windows.

Dust and vacuum any cobwebs as soon as you see them. Even if you don’t see a spider around ,there’s got to be one somewhere and this may encourage them to move on and build their home somewhere it’s less likely to be destroyed.

Amazingly, spiders have a favourite colour. While we used to believe spiders were colourblind, new research shows this is, in fact, untrue.

It might seem obvious but spiders love the colour green.

So, if you want to give them a less friendly welcome make sure you avoid using green around the home.
